From Shadows to Spotlight: Embracing My Writing Journey!

Starting Strong (or so I thought)
Here I was off to a great start by friending nearly 5,000 people on Facebook, only to realize there’s a difference between friends and followers. Oops! Luckily, my “real” friends and family have been incredibly supportive as I figure out this whole online presence thing. Now, after some trial and error, I’m learning—slowly but surely!

Website Woes and a Little Perseverance
This website you’re visiting? It almost didn’t make it past day one! I spent five frustrating hours trying to get it up and running—I didn’t even get as far as adjusting settings or figuring out layouts. After making zero progress, I was this close to throwing my laptop across the room. Hours of battling with templates that made no sense and links…what links? I finally hit a wall and called it quits for the day.

But today, with a fresh outlook (and two Monster drinks), I decided to power through. With a bit more determination, a few deep breaths, and maybe even a pep talk, I’m happy to say it’s mostly functional! There’s still plenty more to add as I get the hang of things, but for now, I’ll call it a win. Thanks for sticking with me through this wild ride!

A Huge Thanks to My Support Team
A shout out to my amazing coworkers Julian and Tiffany, who are diving into Solace of the Stars as my first readers. Julian, with his meticulous attention to detail, catches every repetitive word and makes sure the flow is just right. And Tiffany is hard at work editing. I also have another beta reader, Christina, who will start reading as I get closer to the finish line.

Writing Life: A Story That Has a Mind of Its Own

Writing, thankfully, has been the easy part! I’m about ten chapters and nearly 40,000 words in, but my characters have minds of their own. They often drag me back to earlier chapters, insisting on tweaks or rewrites until their story feels just right. Some characters are so persistent they’ve ended up with entire chapters to themselves, even if I don’t yet know where they’ll fit into the final story.

In fact, they’re so vocal they’ll have their own Q&A page… once I figure out how to set it up! Elara, for one, is eager to introduce herself to the world before the book launches. The others seem content to hang back, though if you happen to get Adrien answering your questions, brace yourself—he’s known for his snark and can be a bit abrupt. But that’s all part of the fun, right? Stay tuned for more updates as the characters continue to shape this story in ways even I didn’t expect!

Life, Work, and a Little Humor
On top of this, I’m balancing two teenage boys, four dogs, a cat, and a full-time job. I can’t get rid of the job or the pets… but the kids? (Don’t panic, I’m just kidding!)

Thanks for joining me on this journey—I’m grateful for every bit of support as I dive into this world of writing and connecting. Here’s to more updates, more words, and hopefully fewer social media mishaps along the way!
